Recently I was thinking of making a ball shell but an empty one then putting in a baggie of white spirit(petrol etc) into this ,I make them closed so that it will be a better spread of the flames rather than having a one sided burst.I then sprinkle in my break powder seal it and have the time fuse or spollette in, will this work?If so how well?Is this a lampare shell or are they completely different?If it is not how do you make these shells? Thank you

I personnally have never made a lampare shell but again passfire has it all! Including a 4" lampare. The gist of it is a thick walled paper tube which has a thin bottle of flammable liquid in it sealed in side the paper tube. It has end disks of course. Then flash is used to break the shell and the bottle of flammable liquid. IIRC it uses a spoulette. Apparently they are not a begginer item. This is just what I have heard/seen of these shells so if I am wrong sorry

Thank you very much I am going to attempt to make one my style, as in ball shell with plastic bag broken wit my finest BP, what kind of grains should I use?

Just make sure the bag material is compatable with the liquid.

Petrol soaked BP won't break the shell and it may come down as a fireball that splatters burning liquid everywhere.

Yeah I realised that if I used acetone or something it might eat away at it so I have pured a little white spirit on one of the bags and so far no reaction.

I dought the baggie will withstand the shell being lifted... hence when cylinder sheels which are stronger are used and plastic bottles

Il try it anyway and see how it works its only a small 3'' so it might work il get some more confinement on the shell.

yes, I heared of someone using 22.5 litre cylindrical bottles full of diesel fuel and broken by flash, truly a huge effect but always hit the ground still burning fiercely.

Thats why im using a plastic bag I reckon it'l burn up if the break works I might use some coated rice hulls with it will this improve anything?

I reckon you have to do a bit of trial and error-safely. Like go to a big open space (field) and lift it high so should anything go wrong it will be in the air for a long time and likely burn out. I do not think a bag will survive the acceleration on firing, maybe something like a few film canisters in a cylindrical shell would fair better. Just my 2 pence worth.

OK, not trying to be funny or anything but what about using a condom rather than a plastic baggie? I've never actually tried it but I've thought about using them in ground based fireballs to contain flammable liquids rather than baggies....just a thought :huh:
