We had 2 chemists in the town were I lived, and yes.. we would by loads of those little box's of salpeter from the one then run about a mile to the other side of town to buy little box's of sulpher from the other and as this was when I was in South Africa... charcoal was in abundance as BBQ's is the South African way of life.

This will be my first post, my god is it hard to get validated here! hehe. No problem though, I know how busy mr admin must be, anyways I found a website that has a nice list of chemicals with separate suppliers for UK, Global and USA... Readily Available Chemicals
I hope this comes in handy for people, it's helped me get stocked up for my quest in pyrotechnics. I'm fairly new to the scene, but I know my stuff... apart from knowing a cheap supplier of KClO4
I've been emailing around to see if I can get a fairly cheap supplier, when I find one, I'll let people know and they can PM me if they are legit.
As I have noticed, people have there reasons for not sharing their suppliers with everyone, it's a shame we can't all share without risk of damaging the scene.
Anyways, bed time!
Cya Guys!

Just a note, if you send many emails and maybe make some phone calls you will get what you want, through a few days of contacting people I have managed to get every chemical I will ever need, for dirt cheap aswell, I can get kno3 for ?2 per kilo and its 99.9%+ pure
Anyways, I really must get to bed.
P.s, does this compare to any other members prices for perc and kno3 btw?

Guys, you just keep repeating. The button line is, if you stay on the internet all day long, you will never get what you want - most small chemical business are not on the internet. Second if you think about buying bulk, I suggest people will think long and hard of what if means. Holding a couple of kilos might be okay and within the law, holding 200 kilos of chemicals in your house - even if legal - is going to raise questions. Let?s not forget - mixing more then a 100g is not legal, period. You might get away with a bit more - but if you start having kilos - well, this can be anything from cash fine to jail - so again, think long and hard about what you do before you do it.
The BPS is working to try to get things legalized, but until then, people have to remain more or less within the book boundaries.

I was trying to help, thats ok right?
I would however appreciate not being patronized for making a mistake as trivial as that, afterall were only human, not everyone can be perfect right?

Look, at the end of the day we are trying to maintain quality forum. The forum is due to a cleaning operation sometime soon, and I'm sure we will re-arrange it and make it more useful. This includes removing supplier names, which will no longer supply because of posts. I myself received one phone call regarding this matter. Businesses, who publish on professional journals and not on the Internet, probably have a typical non-internet crowd they wish to attract.
All I'm saying that in the meanwhile, keep posts economic - the whole administration team would rather to see 1 quality post made rather then 10 posts which do not contribute at all. Not quantity - but quality!

Btw, are we looking at about 40 microns to make flake, and how long are we talking about sticking it in the ball mill for? I just received an email from an English Aluminium supplier saying that they can cater for ANY pyrotechnic need, just hope they don't want me to purchase 1 ton of the stuff

Drew

i dont know where to get magnalium but couldnt you just mill 50/50 magnesium aluminum? or would that produce a different product
it won't work(as well as mgal)
magnalium is made from melting aluminium and dissolving magnesium in it.
