Hi tere again, well me chemicalwazi and my father went to fire some stuff. Paul took his silver gerb and z-fan cake. Both of which were really good! I took another 4 inch cylindrical shell with my KP pink stars w/ blue comets. The shell blew the bottom of the mortar out but still went really high! I have a screen grab for the moment as i need to get the size down from 1gb!!! Here you go CLICK

I will be making 4 of these and storing them, i will give them better spiking to help the burst and also add more whistle.

Karl

Edit: Sorry the picture is so small, save it then look in paint or something to zoom in. I am well pleased with the pink stars.

Here is a video of pauls pyro, the gerb was really nice. As the camera was around 40 meters away it looked small. The gerb was attached to the 4 inch mortar pole (without the shell in of course) The fan cake didnt fully work, some stars were blown blind because of too much lift we think.

Has anyone made shells and put stars in the lift charge? I will be making quite a few larger shells with them in the lift. Was thinking of my 5 inch willow shells lifting under a see of blue and gold stars! What does everyone think, will it make people go ahhhhh?

Above post has video's of my shell at last

This is equivelent to having a mine with s shell on top of it. It's quite common.

Should look great Karl - IIRC, the mine combo at this years KLOB event ended with two of these types of shells, except they were filled with stars, smaller shells and then a 6" shell ontop.

Never realised you could fit so much inside one mortar :D Really great effect!

They must use larger mortars to fit that lot in? I will be testing the weeping willow stars when i get my 3kg of charcoal, then i will load a 5 inch shell with a blue pistil. The lift charge will have willow stars and a few blue too. Also going to make a sun and planets shell if i can pull it off!!! :D

Now that would be amazing! Ive seen professional companies that have had problems pulling that shell off, so goodluck to you man.

How about a dark break for 2 seconds to a dense golden weeping willow. Makes everyone go ahhhh all got blown blind then OOOO AAAAHHHHH. Atleast thats what I want to do eventually.. :P

By the way nice shell, fountain, and cake!

I will deffinatly try the dark to willow star when i have a roller, i also want to get strobes done somtime this year. I love a good strobe shell/mine. I will need luck i think, i generally just need to beef up the piston under the shell i think. Just to handle the pressure from the lift charge. I will hopfully have it ready for November 5th and you bet it will be filmed. Also the construction will be photographed. The gerb and fan cake was Chemicalwazi's handy work, i loved them both.

Just a thin plastic bag full of stars dropped on top of the shell when it's in the mortar should give you your mine effect with little effort.
Organisation is a wonderful trait in others

I will add them in the lift bag so its all one unit, plus they will be plastic bagged up to stop moisture. As will the quickmatch. Will use that idea for adding hummers to a lift charge though.

And now it is my turn to show the latest project.

Posted Image

Info:
Lift: 100g (a bit to much)
Delay: 2 seconds (a bit little)
Burst: about 400-500g 4:1 H3 (maby som e booster next time)
Stars: Chrysantemum to brilliant core. (a bit to small. 15mm)
Total shell wheight: about 1200g
Tail: 3 white comets (never lit...)

Movie: PM me.

As my first 6 incher I'm pretty happy, but there is still some things to take care of to make it perfect.

WOW nice!!! Shame the comets didnt light, was it a tight fit in the mortar? Those stars were lovely, love the brilliant core it really was brilliant! Very impressive shell, and a great first 6 inch! WELL DONE MATE

Great shell, nice symmetry! What did you use as a burst carrier? If you where to use a booster next time what would you use that would be compatible with H3?
As Karl said well done

Thanks!
It was a tight fit. The shell whet down without force, but it was not far from it. That was probably why the comet never lit. Not enough spray from the lift to light them.

JamesH

Thanks!
I used wood chips and turnings from a big drill and a lathe. Everything within 5-20mm were used. I'm not sure what booster I would use. I'll look into that when time comes. Probably some kind of whistle.
