Absolutely! But they seem a bit rediculous to me when compared to the multibreaks that can be created and or purchased. Also, as far as 1.3g peanuts go I've never seen more than two shells stacked.

Ive seen three ball shells stacked up to 5" but the shells looked like it went 5,4,3 does that count?

I wonder if anyone has ever tried stacking ball shells this big?

Looking forward to it too :) This is a picture of the shell, its quite amazing how much room is inside a 3 inch shell, there is a 15g BP on rice crispies to eject everything. The yellow tissue is flame proof. The parachute is from an estes rocket (OPTIMA) Also in this pic is my 3inch tiger tail skymine, its got a 2 second fuse. PICTURE

This is a picture of the 5 inch 'Sun and planets' shell i am building, its not quite complete yet. Also in the pic are the other two shells for size comparison. PICTURE

Very nice looking shells Karlfoxman! Can I ask what the parachute is for? Is it just for a size comparison? Thats a 24" 'chute right?

I've decided, starting from the new year Im gonna have all of the supplies to make shells.

Cheers, the paracute is for the wirless camera to hang off as it slowly drifts looking down. I think it is a 24" chute as it used to be inside our big estes rocket. Have you ever made shells before? I hate this weather, i wanted to fire the shell cam today but the wind really picked up.

Hehe the same here. Started snowing today! Everywhere you look is snow snow snow. Looks great, but it?s kind of anti-shooting weather :D

So atm I am building my 6" canister shell I intend to shoot on New Year's Day for my friends.

I?ll take photos of every single step.

with best regards,

paul

P.S:

Also, for shells with the 1/8" fuse hole, is wrapping the visco in some tape, inserting it, and hot-glueing both ends sufficient to hold it in?

Yepp, well sticking masking tape works very well for this. Had to do that in all my earlier shells. It is important to cut the visco at about 45degree and to stick a piece of blackmatch to it to ensure ignition.

Well did a little test tonight, it was a 4 inch red heart pattern shell. Burst was bp on crispies and a 3g flash booster in a cantral bag. The stars are my own mg powder/al powder reds, and i must admit they are great :D

The shell weighed in at 250g and was lofted with 35g riced lift.

Now, why the hell did the stars flop and drop???? Either the shell was still going up (i doubt this) or the case is no where near strong enough. I hope you can make out the heart, the bottom point of the heart went a bit pete!

P.S. Karl does not like flash so i am building one for tomorrow using my normal whistle on bp, although the report was impressive.

Hmm i can, are you using IE or Firefox?? I know this host will only allow 1 download per hour  But i will try fing a better host.

Use IE if your using Firefox, it may just be that.

Oh by the way its DIVX to keep the size down so you will need the codec, its free just type divx in google and its near the top.

Edit : I paid for ome hosting so now you can get it anytime, together with any other videos.

Looks good! The heart is very clear even though it's a bit canted. Nice work. What was your case construction? I don't think you'd want to break it much harder without adding more stars as the heart would become quite sparse I should think. How about a dark flash for assisting the break?

Cheers Maineiac, the shell was a plastic one from a spanish supplier. No i wont break it harded, i tend not to use flash as it has too many risks involved. Yeah i see what you mean about the stars looking sparse, they burn up quickly as those are 15mm x 15mm pumped.

I have not used plastic, but if one of my paper shells would have done the same I would say it had to little paper on it. 3g flash is more then enough for a 4" to get a good burst. So the problem is probably in the shell case. It needs to be stronger. Maby a better glue/solvent for the plastic or a few layers of paper to finish it.

Well guys, i tried the same shell with a whistle booster and it worked perfect. Will upload the video for you to see. I used less lift as the stuff is very hot. So maybe flash can sometimes break a shell too hard and end up lighting the stars and messing up the break. I from this will NEVER use flash.

Here is the video for last nights test, i need to work out a better way of securing the stars as a few have moved out of place. But the shell is doing its job well
