There is an easy way to solve this problem. For my 3" ring shell it worked out well.

I just cutted out a long strip of tissue paper and glued the stars with 1cm distance to it with a dab of hot glue. Then you have a line of stars hich you can align in the shell in the desired shape.

They don?t move out of their place then but seperate very easily from the break as it is only a line of thin tissue paper that holds them together!

EDIT: Anyway! I could make out the heart in your shell. Success will come with further testing i think :D So, keep on testing! I like the colour of the stars very much.

Cheers Paul, this is the method we use for ring shells too. For my heart shells nand other patterns i use a cardboard template, the stars are glued to this with slurry or hotmelt glue. It looks like two of the stars got blown into 3 pieces on the video.

Yes you are right more testing is needed so i can get consistent results, the stars are very nice, bright, easy to pump and dry quickly. Even with the powerful burst every one lit. The prime is a thin slurry prime. The next test will see a reduction in whistle booster.

Every test i do will now be recorded and uploaded for you all to see, i love hearing comments good and bad!

Well i have two more shells up for testing a 5 inch willow w/ blue pistil and a 4 inch tiger tail w/ crackling pistil, the shells have the same type of burst, 15hr milled willow on rice crispies with a whistle booster. Another heart shell is nearly ready too :D

Pics

125mm Willow w/ blue pistil

100mm Tigertail chrysanthemum w/ crackling pistil

Will film them

Hey Karl, I like the spanish style finish on that 5" shell, looking good. How much whistle mix did you use in each sell?
Looking forward to seeing the videos!

Hi peeps, i fired the 100mm shell a few days back. I did film it with the DV camera i bought off ebay for 36 quid!! But i was getting ready to go to the pub on tuesday and i dropped it on the drive!!  The connector that holds the CCD board got pulled off and with it took two serface mount components, now those components as some will know are tiny and were lost. My father is an electronics engineer and has worked out what values they must have been so i will post the vid as soon as the camera is up and running!

To hell with bad cameras ): I bet this shell would be a real beauty if seen in reality :D

You only can imagine the nice golden tiger tails. PLEASE use a better camera for soooo sweet shells :D

Anyway, nice lift, I like this "double thump" sound. Great altitude and very powerful break. Sounds like there was some whistle in it, too. Like the cracklings!

great work, keep it up guy :)

Cheers for your comments, the shell was burst with a mixture of BP on rice crispies and whistle. The report out the tube was nice and the burst was a real loud one. I have looked at the wave form in Sony Vegas 6 and the lift has 3 peaks. Its cool listening to the echos from the burst in slow motion. I will try to capture the sounds and post them. Tiger tail and willow are really nice, tiger tail-blue tip chrysanthemum will be next i think??

Nice shell Karl.
Tigertail is a pain in the **s to capture on film.
I've seen shows on freakpyromaniacs that used tigertail shells, and altough they use semi-professional equipment it still doesn't show well on their video's.

Just finished a batch of tigertail stars myself, so I have a nice opportunity to test those cardboard shells(I sent the pictures to your hotmailaccount).

Keep up the good work, and stay green(that go's for everyone)
