All in all it was pretty much great, the timing was spot on and so was the lift. But the filming....just don't let me get started on that matter. Anyway the cameraman got the lift and some stars which is good.
As you will see the break sucked terribly, all got blown out at one side .

The outter petal is green to red to dragons eggs, and the inner petal is winokur39 glitter. The outter petal should burn for 4 seconds, and the inner for 1.5. The rising shells will burst at 1.7 seconds, then every 1.4 seconds later. The main shell should ignite at 5.5 seconds. I will post pics of the completed shell with small flowers as soon as its done.

I left out a few details, the burst is BP meal on rise crispies 4:1. The shell weighs in at 1318 grams, and still needs 6 more layers of pasting. Each of the rising shells weighs about 45 grams. The first rising shell to light will be blue stars, the second green and charcoal streamers, and the third contains steel stars. I will use 1/15th the weight of the shell as lift, and yes I made the lift myself. I added one gram of flash as a booster, and I am pasting on 8 layers of 70lb recycled kraft which overlaps 1/2, so really it will be like 16 layers. The rising shells are using amercian visco as timefuse, and the main shell japanese 1/4" timefuse.

One thing you need to watch for is the inner petal flumping out the outer petal, i generaly use bp burst in outer petal and kp burst in the inner. Flash may do the trick though.

Great work! The hemi's seem very well formed, what method did you use to produce them? Did you use 1g of flash in each hemi or 1g total? What burst do you use for the 40mm shells?
Looking forward to seeing that beauty in action!

I made the hemi's by pasting paper over a 6" plastic shell. There is one gram total flash in the shell. The small shells are broke with 4fa BP. The stars are filled to the top of each hemi, then then all the space is filled with 4fa. I am not sure exactly when I will be lighting it, pretty soon though.
Edit: Finished pics:

Total shell weight: 1550 grams
Lift: -6 +12 mesh, 103 grams.

Yeah, definately the first shell with small shells as the rising effect! Really looking forweard to see that thing in action!
I bet it will be alot of fun!
Al has made a perfect looking version of Takeo Shimizu's "ascending small flowers" effect. In F.A.S.T. there is also an interesting looking effect called "ascending thunder" with 5 salutes staggered on a hemp hanger. This is another good reason to step up to a larger shell, so I have room to work with

SO when is the launch ? Can't wait to see that video, great looking shell.
