Beautiful example of a saturn shell, better than most of my attempts! Love the colour of the Red, what formula was it?

GREAT SHELL MAN! I really like the colours and the long hang time of the inner pistil stars!

Anyway, I have got a question: I want to build a palm tree shell. I already pressed 5 25mm charcoal streamers. Now I really don?t know if it is worth to put them into a round shell or if it is exessive work. I like to build round shells but if it will work with an canister, I?d appreciate it...

Any comments on that ?!

I don't see why not. I think ball shells are usually used is because they use less materials and such. If you are filling half with clay or something to try to orrient it correctly, I would think that a canister would take longer to stabilize.

Thanks guys,

That was ruby red, with 325 mesh mgal. I love the bright colors you can get with mgal. I think next I will start experimenting with colors other then blue, red and green.
The more I learn, the more I know I don't know.

You can see a few construction pix here:

The thing that?s left is to decide how much lift I?ll use.

Edit: Today I?ll shoot that sweetie. Hope it works well. Got 90g of riced BP under it... FAST BP :)

I attached two rising comets (silver ones with bright flake AL) to it. Hope they ignote...

The video if it can be found here. Did not work well, so don?t be too harsh to me :)

Very nice! Can you give details on burst, comet sizes and their break and your burst carrier.

Burst was KP on rice hulls, loaded in using a thin paper cannule, which was removed before capping the shell. Comets were 3/4" crossettes of winokur 39J, broken with 3/16" ID rolled shots of about .2 gram of dark report comp. ( I fill them by volume, not weight, but next batch I will weigh it out for curiosity's sake ). I loaded 2 rings of 6 crossettes each in the shell. Gaps and extra space were filled with pulverone BP. shell weight was 197 grams, which I lifted with 20 grams of 10-20 mesh corned BP.

Frozentech, that was an excellent shell! Hats off to you!
Was that shell spiked with cotton twine?
What diameter did you make the central cannule?

Thanks. It was spiked with 7 strand Irish Linen twine from pyrosupplies.com, and the cannule I used was just under 3/4" diameter, basically as wide as I could fit inside the 2 rings of comets.

Yeah, Frozentechz you really did everything right with your shell. Great break, I just LOVE those crossettes. Your 3" has got the trippled effect of my 6" can which really was a huge sh*t-can ;)

Congrats! I?ll have a closer look at your pix and hope to learn from you...

I saw just going to fire a 3" shell tonight, go in, look at it, see the pasting looks rough, so i go for a closer look. When I picked it up, a whole lot of wee paper "pellets" fell off. I got slightly worried, thinking maybe the dog had somehow got in, then I could see him getting ill after eating a few hundered grams of red gum (he's a greedy stupid dog). A quick check revealed the dog was find, and everything else was untouched. So it wasn't the dog, I realised it was little micey, coming in from the fields as winter is starting. Damn, I was annoyed. The fuse I use as a time delay had been chewed, and the crossmatch was gone. This shell was not gonna be fired tonight. I have improvised a sort of BP paste to hopefully prime the timefuse as that was the only way of fixing it without cutting it apart. When it dries, I'll launch it, but I don't have high hopes as the pasting is uneven and ragged, but still solid. I don't have the time to paste on another couple of layers, so this shell will probably not be top notch.

EDIT: Little micey are gonna get a treat tonight, chocolate! One drawback, it's on a metal plate and if the micey isn't careful, a metal bar will spring on it and kill it. Bye bye mr mouse.

EDIT 2): Yes, I did use flour paste.

EDIT 3): Yes, I shouldn't have left it out for the mouse.

I already pasted three layers on it. 7 will follow. Then this sweety will see the world from 150m above... :)

See http://www.flickr.co...otos/pyrostyle/ for further pictures.

EDIT: Here?s the shell pasted in with 5 comets that?ll be glued to it ...

I have been busy making inserts for some sky mines 4" sky mines.

They are as follow:

One with red-report

One with Green-report

One with silver-red-report

Here is the videos of test, without report.

RED-REPORT
GREEN-REPORT
SILVER-RED-REPORT

they are rolled tubes 1/2" id and 2" long. The colour delay is dry pressed on hydralic press to 10mm thick, then the 70/30 flash is added in the remaining cavity and a plug fixed into the open end. They are primed with slurry and grain powder.
