Dude, you´ve got a few very nice shells there! I liked the first and the last shell most, quite hard breaks but looks great.
Unintended butterfly effect oder did you construct them to do so? :)

I´ve prepared >35 25mm comets for one or two 6" palm tree shells. Hope to get the desired effect :D
Really looking forward to build such a shell!

The comets I prepared...

paul--->

The bow-tie effect was intentional although both the first and the last one should have had a green ring as well but i didn't prime thos well enough.

Guess it´s a good glitter. Hope to see that effect hiiiigh up in the sky with like 40 of these comets! What do you think?

Just a link to a 3" ball shell from the other night.

The stars were 50/50 Buell red and pop glitter (from passfire)

Hope you enjoy

Very nice shell there, what cases are you using? Still the Gamon ones, I have a about 9 boxes of Gamon stuff left. Hoping to ebay some soon to get rid of it. Not sure what there is but when I sell them I will post on here. Be nice to see some pictures of your shells being built.

I like the glitter, would make nice pistil for some of my Beraq shells.

So what booster you using now, seemed to have got it working very well I say your ready for 4's once you tried some more 3's. Maybe try some paper ones too! All that plastic litter. Lol

For all the peeps interested in the Gamon stuff I still have:

I will be sorting it all out over the next weekend or so, I will write up all the parts I have and prices and place on my server as a read-only excel file. Im very busy with work so be aware this will take quite a while to do. I have one order that comes first over anyone elses and these parts will not appear on the pages I type. If anyone is interested please wait till I have typed up the bits I have. So please bear with me, I may or may not ebay some items. Or future events bring a load down.

Oh and Paul I loved the comet, how are the shells coming on. One shell I do love is an atractive Palm Tree.

Thanks, maxman and Karlfoxman!

The shells are coming on! ...In my head ): Have to wait
till I´ve got my proper 4" and 3" case former made from
beech on a lathe... I hope I´ll recieve them this week.
Everything else is already prepared. I just wait for the case formers.

Indeed, a palm tree shell is some nice effect, but I lack round hemis
atm, so I´ll make a 4" can from the comets, with 3 rows of 7 comets
and 4 comets as a rising tail!

Hope that works out as I want :) I´ll post detailed fre-firing pix
of the can´s construction!

Watch this place.

Cheers!

Thanks Karl. I use whistle mix, made the safer way! Wet mixing using coleman fuel as the solvent, red iron oxide and petrolium jelly. It works well for me and although you need more than flash, I feel more comfortable using it.

I´ve improvised a former (finally found a thick walled tube which is 90mm OD :) )
thus I can show you the first construction pics.

I´ve used XNview to create mosaic-like pictures of all building steps so far:

red shimizu 70mm shells(poor ignition of stars....how???)

(burst= KP burst)
Priming: classic BP

I hawe a problem. Poor ignition of stars, stars look like perfect but maybe charcoal is not good for priming. Which kind of charcoal is the best for prime(kind of wood)? I use Alnus glutinosa, perfect for lifting powder, hihg temperature, but maybe poor ignition.
Can you write me, which operation is needed for 100% ignition of star-prime after explosion? In the red shimizu shells was added about 200 stars, but only 40 - 50 percentage fired after explosion , others fell down in intact shape. Maybe surface of prime is not good.
Thanks, I need youre help!!!!

You could try spiking your black powder with a hot burning metal. That does the trick with most of my harder to ignite and sulfate based stars.
