My order of Magnalium was sent as 49 percent Magnalium and 51 percent Magnesium shavings. So I have quite a bit of the shavings left and I'm wondering what can be done with it. The stuff is fairly small - no more than a few millimeters square. Is it worth milling? Can it be used 'as is' in a star or fuel?

I've got the same stuff you have kate. I've found it has no real use in pyro at that mesh, rather I just get a small pile burning and push it around with a stick. I don't recommend milling magnesium..at all or ever.
When one plays with fire, one is bound to get burndt.

If It's +5 mesh it works well for star cores. -10+30 mesh is good for a Mg glitter like effect with any resonably hot burning star comp. Be sure to coat your Mg. -cat

Try Putting 50% by volume MG Shavings and 50% Sawdust into a plastic bag, seal it and throw it in between shell halves during assembly, Makes an interesting waterfall twinkling sort of effect at the break. Recommended for 6" and above shells.

There are old pyros, and there are bold pyros, but there are not very many old, bold pyros....
