Well, just got back from the lecture ( or rather the pub following it). The demonstrations were pretty good, but most of the content was pretty basic. She explained why Ti crackles ('cos of the oxide layer breaking), which was interesting, but the level of the talk was more aimed at the complete layman with little knowledeg of chemistry.
A few things seemed plain wrong - she said bp rockets only work with a core drilled in- what about endburners?, and she refered to bp as a 'high explosive'.
She also talked about an amazing never before seen type of firework with a secret ingredient told to her by an old chinese gentleman- it turned out to be a strobe!
on the whole it was an interesting talk, but it suffered at being aimed a children too much.
Also it was great to meet up with the other guys that made it along!
p.s do Kimbolton make any of there own consumer fireworks?
