It seemed to be going ok but i noticed it wasnt picking up the powder very well so i wetted them more..But the powder didnt seem to stick ..So i got them really wet and just as they start to clump i added a tiny bit of powder... normally this works ok.. but in this case the powder just seemed to build up on top edge of the star pile .. i tried allosorts but the damn powder wouldnt stick...
Last week i used a hand sprayer and they rolled up dead easy perfect liitle balls..rock hard..But with this spray gun no such luck?.. also went through lots of acetone nearly a litre? the spray gun gobbled it up.. not very impressed at all...I am wondering why should a hand spray mister work ok? but the spray gun didnt ?
So i have just ordered one of those Solvent spray/misters from atomizer and hopefully will have more success..

Aceton is the stuff used on visco fuse isn't it? if so is it essential to use it on stars?
Acetone is a solvent. It is neccesary to use it, or a similar solvent, when making stars from compositions that are water sensitive, such as magnesium based comps.
Yes it is used to make nitrocellulose laquer (NC) which is used to apply a water resistant coating to visco fuse. It is not the material that forms the coating it is simply a solvent for the NC.

Its a bit to cold to try rolling some stars so i will give it a go when it gets a bit warmer...
So anyone looking for a acetone proof sprayer this looks promising?.

Well i got the Solvent sprayer this morning it cost just over ?40 , its 950 ml capacity The actual trigger head is all metal construction and i have sprayed over a litre of acetone through it and it seems to work perfect! ..I have left it for a few hours gone back and sprayed it and it seems ok..Normally on the other spray heads i have tried after a few sprays the trigger tends to stick, this has a nice possitive feel to it....

not if you do one big batch at a time, and use maybe 3 or 4 guns a year.Cheaper than buying a new spray gun every week.
