Ok lets clear this up once and for all, for my sanity and everyone elses...
There seems to be alot of confusion whether visco fuse can be sent over to the UK by a friend that buys it off cannonfuse.com or any other supplier in the US that WONT ship the stuff to the UK themselves. Anyways I've heard from people that it is possible and legal... I quote.

Just got off the phone to Customs and Excise, and the HSE. Soo many numbers, and catchy hold music. All fuses seem to be listed for import under the same number: 3603001000. Visco appears to be:

"GREEN VISCO SAFETY FUSE 3/32" PPVISCO PYROTECHNICS 0105
1.4S

Customs say you DON'T need any special liscense to import this (or any other fuse/cord) I made it clear that I'm a private individual, not a company. They said that a properly labelled package of fuse going through customs would be A O K, even to a home address. So, the HSE say its OK, customs say its OK.......

So is it possible to get visco from the states? Has anybody tried to get visco into the country and did they succeed? Cannonfuse.com sent me a reply on this matter last night...

If I cant legally ship it to you then he cant legally ship it to you either. I have a permit to legally ship fuse within the USA, I doubt your friend has one.
I also cant knowingly assist you in comitting a crime so if I know that someone intends to send you the fuse I cant sell or ship it to them.
Why dont you just order from www.ukvisco.com
You
Thanks!

I know that you don't export visco, but something I need to clear up, can my friend in the US order 500ft of american visco and THEN ship it over to me? would he need to include any documents with the fuse? I couldnt think of anybody else more qualified to ask.

Thank you so much for your time,
D. Higginson (England)

Hmmmm interesting, customs say its legal, whilst cannonfuse insists I would be breaking the law, seems like an easy decision to me, but what does everybody else think?

Best Regards,
Drew :)

It is Cannonfuse.com that would be breaking the law - not you. Breaking AMERICAN law that is. In the UK it is perfectly legal to import visco. Cannonfuse.com cannot legally export from the US. They can ship internally within the US.

Ok I wasn't specific, CAN an individual who doesn't have to abide by the rules of his licence send me FROM the united states 500ft of visco fuse to the United Kindom?
In other words can I legally get somebody to forward fuse to me in the UK?

In a nutshell, you have to find someone who is willing to break american export law, which cannot be a very good idea. You simply cannot export fuse out of the states.... legally, that is : )

If you got a friend in the US to ship you visco, YOUR only worry is for your friend - if it gets stopped by US customs on the way out - your friend is in big trouble. The US clamped down on exporting visco after 9/11. If it gets past US customs, you are OK. UK customs will not stop it.

Ok so a nice answer to my 'will it ever happen' question.... NO, probably not :P
Ah well, was a nice thought having 500ft of visco, shame I wont be getting anywhere near that amount in the near future.

Drew

if you really so desperate that you want to order 500ft, do it from China. They are the main exporter of fuse anyway - not America.
