58 potassium nitrate
18 sulfur
11 charcoal
7 alum atomised 325 mesh
7 sodium bicarbonate
4 dextrin
this is an awesome formula with many little gold flashes.some people say that the percentage of pot-nit should be 53 but i tried it and it worked better with the 58. this works good as a pumped star be careful not to wet it to much 70\30 water/alcohol.

Another web site that I forgot to mention is Skylighter's newsletter archive. ( Skylighter is a popular supplier of pyro materials in the US ) http://www.skylighte...es/articles.asp

D1 has 53% nitrate pure and simple. That's how it was designed and that is how it is. If you want to make something with 58% that's fine as experimentation is a good thing but it is not D1. A field such as this demands precision and formulas must be kept intact. One must be clear and succinct in what one is putting forth. That being said, how about coming up with a name for this glitter that is "based on the work of" Jack Drewes and Tom Rebenklau? Jack gave Tom a formula and Tom made an alteration to this formula thus D (Drewes) 1 (first modification). Not a slam towards you. Just trying to keep things accurate. And a name for that popular mod would be good to have.
juggalo_pyro,
Read read read read read. Spend money on books before chemicals. You like your body parts. People die (or wish they were dead) in this hobby every year. Regarding formulas, here is a very good reference:

haha thanks but i already have that one along with the PFP database on my internet favorites list
Cannon fuse has the same one but it's more extensive.
You're a lucky bastard living in the US as a pyro. We can't "get" anything in canada and ironically enough we're a huge producer of perchlorate.
