We are back now, and well, what can i say.......except that it was an absolutely fabulous experience!! :D

Everything from the fireworks, to the hospitality and friendliness of the Maltese people.

The highlight of the trip though, had to be the tour of the factories that produce these fantastic pieces. It was a real eye-opener for me. These places are run completely by amateurs, i.e. unpaid volunteers, and funded by donations by the villages attached to each factory. There is nothing amateurish about the final product though, 100% professional. Its absolutely amazing what can be produced on a shoestring budget.

The thing that amazed me the most though, was that these factories, which are no more than a group of
5-10 outhouses/sheds each containing dozens & dozens of shells (most of which were multibreaks, some up to 5ft tall), sacks of powders & stars, miles of fuse etc, had virtually no security at all!!! Just remember to lock the door on your way out!!

The other interesting thing i discovered is that they have large displays all year round, virtually weekly, im not kidding you..........at least now i know where to buy my holiday home :D

As for the fireworks, they were breathtaking, absolutely amazing. If anyone wants to see the winning show, it can be found here
