Another funny thing, one New Years Eve (might have been Millenium). It had been a bit of a damp evening, but the rain had stopped just before midnight. Got everyone outside, sent up an 8oz maroon roket to start the show - BLAMMMM! . As if by reply from the Almighty, immediately a mighty shower of hail descended from the sky, it put down something like 3/4" of the stuff in a couple of minutes . I shall have more respect in future!
