They must have mixed it with something else, as pure activated charcoal for medical use is almost tasteless. They made me drink a whole bunch of that activated charcoal (was in some type of slurry) through a straw when I OD'ed. It tasted horrible!!! I think it was just a sick form of negative reinforcement to ensure that it never happened again. Every half sip I had to stop and drink a whole thing of apple juice (that's all they'd give me) because it tasted soooooooooo bad!!!

I've eaten it on a couple of occasions, as a slurry in water. Unpleasant gritty texture, I didn't use a straw so ended up crunching it between my teeth.
Memorable, but not in a good way.

maybe there was a solvent added to speed the reaction.

It is often mixed with Sorbitol (in laxative quantities!) and is only effective only on fairly large molecules.Pure carbon doesn't form covalent bonds. In your stomach it acts like a sponge. Activated carbon has many pores from it's manufacturing process. The poison/alcohol/drug/whatever is absorbed. The bad tasting part was probably either the solvent, though I would assume it is water, or the part that makes you throw up later. There may be something to keep it suspended in the water, say propylene glycol or something, but those should taste sweet.
It should NOT be used for strong alkalis and acids, petroleum products (kerosene, fuel oil, thinners etc.) alcohols; They are not adsorbed properly by the charcoal and can be released further down the digestive system.

No use for BP, it's a b*stard to mill as well.
hmm, I wonder how fine my titanium would be after leaving it in a mill with that for a few weeks!didn't want it for bp, just to sell on at stupid profit,
if you did try to ball mill it, it would probably mill your ceramic balls to powder.

Not as fine as the motorcycle I could build if I happened to have enough large uncut diamonds to fill a ball mill.hmm, I wonder how fine my titanium would be after leaving it in a mill with that for a few weeks!
