I paid ?21 for 1kg of KNO3!
(I know I was ripped off, but it will still last me ages, as most of the fireworks I make are small)

I also found it for around ?4 per 500g atLabpak chemicals, but the minimum order is ?50 online. I think they also do large order discounts, but if you buy ?50 worth of KNO3 from them it might attracted some unwanted attention. They also do chlorates and metal powders, but no perchlorates .

Maybe if several people who lived locally wanted to put in a large order then it would be worthwhile.

If its the one I remember called Root Out, the ingredient is ammonium sulphamate, which doesnt really have a use in fireworks as far as I know, try it though, I may be wrong and it could be KNO3

Just a quick note in case it helps... Garden Direct KNO3 is great but varies in coarseness from batch to batch. Sometimes it's a very fine powder, sometimes much more crystalline.

Both are fine for making milled BP, but if you're making fountains such as Perigrin Iron #1, you'll need to mill the crystalline stuff to powder before mixing.

Inoxia sell both coarse and milled fine grades which might save you some time.

Has anyone noticed the price of KNO3 on gardendirect ? £59 for 25kg, £19 for 2kg, very steep prices. I remember paying £11 in total for 2KG 3 years ago from there.

The price seemed to double when the 'credit crunch' hit the UK. Now about £1 per pound for 25kg - bit steep I agree...

I think the price rise is a result of both material prices going up a lot (a little man from China told me) and also the poor state of the GB£ - I guess most is imported.
