It seems really silly ordering Rev. Lancaster's book from the states! What books should I have and importantly where should I get them from.

I did find Brock's book!

Keep mannequins and watermelons away from fireworks..they always get hurt..

Unbelievably, Ron's book can be purchased from Ron himself :) Call Kimbolton and part with 70 of your hard earned pounds and you will have a copy sent to you in no time.

Other books including Hardt, Shimizu and others can be bought from Warren Klofkorn at Prometheus Publications in the states. He accepts PayPal and is great to do business with. No-one should be without a copy of Lancaster and Hardt, they are essential reading.

You might like to read the following review:

http://www.ipsusa.org/review.pdf

Not a book for beginners or a step-by-step, but it contains a very thorough chapter on fireworks and the many fine points and techniques not covered extensively in previous literature. Very well illustrated and no expense has been spared in its production either. It looks very good in anyone's library!

I would doubt it. Your best bet is Warren K. It cost me no more than £60 including posting by air.

Indeed. I purchased a copy earlier this month for ~$82 US. They're also running a promotion right now with their Amazon credit card (Chase bank) whereby you get $40 off your first purchase with it.

Another book for the serious pyro has to be the CRC Handbook of Chemistry and Physics (sometimes known as "The Rubber Book") - not cheap  , but all the data about everything chemical in one 3Kg volume! :P
