Just seen this - quite a big download, but worth it. It's interesting to see people smiling about the burns, almost a badge of honour. Imagine that happening here in the UK!! They wouldn't just throw away the key they'd weld the door shut!

WOW!!! That is just amazing. That is the difference though between Mexico and USA (not sure how GB is). The people in Mexico except that and understand the consequences where here in America people would try and capitalize off of it and sue the hell out of everyone.

On a lighter note anyone else catch the Girandola about 1/3 way in lifting off a "bull"?

Couldn't believe my eyes when watching that video! That is by far the silliest thing i have ever seen to do with fireworks. I understand if its part of their culture or what have ya but in my opinion its pointless and not worth a rocket in your eye socket!

I think it's the Maltese/Valencians who also share a love of close-prox pyro. Ever seen the vid of the daytime display where they're running through the streets, closely followed by numerous chains of salutes?

Dont forget the town in Greece where they launch large BP rockets at opposite churches. Thousands upon thousands of rockets. Good thing though is they have no header...

I am from Greece.
It's an island called Chios. Absolutely cool thing. The past year they have launched nearly 50.000 rockets!
They cover all houses and churches with fence wire to protect themselves, it's been done many years now and nobody seems to have a problem.

Welcome, very interesting! Love the photos, do you have details of the rockets? If so can you post up some specs and stuff. Always nice to have input from places around the world. Wish you a happy and safe time on te forums

Actually one of my best friends is from Chios and he is there for the summer. I'll try to contact him to get more info.
From my quests i think they are simple end burners with tubes built from almost everything (even newspapers), since it's a tradition people there does not care about sizes or details so much. Their length is about 10 to 13cm long and ID 1 to 1,5cm.

That would be great, if/when you find out post the results and findings under the rocketry thread for all us to see. If you can get the composition, ball milling time if applicable, nozzle diameter and main specs. I for one would be interested in your findings.

While in Valencia for Las Fallas I can confidently say that people there are a lot more sensible with fireworks than most of the public over here. You've just got to know the limits.

I sometimes wonder if people realise those sparks that fly out the end of fireworks aren't as cuddley as they think.
