Very happy that everyone enjoyed themselves. As mentioned before, we did learn a few lessons ? so it?s going to be bigger, better, and more varied next year!
Please stay tune for the next events coming up, and we are also starting to make grounds at other areas. Hooray!

Huge thanks to the display team [Richard, Karl and Tony] who worked like trojans under very difficult conditions.
Also tbig thanks to Adam who ran the workshops with me..... Thanks mate I couldn't have done this alone....
Also, thanks to BigG who provided me with excellent notes on the fuse workshop. Get well soon mate.
Finally a huge vote of thanks to all UKPS members, especially those who attended. This is *your* society and you've made its first convention a clear success - It's a pleasure to be a part of it.
PS: We want next year to be even better! If you have any suggestions or feedback then PM them to me and I'll make sure they are listened to.

Bob survives the blast from half-mixed, rain soaked flash:
Safety demo - rain soaked flash (1.46 MB divx)
The evening display opens:
UKPS 2006 fireworks opening (4 MB divx avi)
and builds towards the end:
UKPS 2006 display mid show (3.54 MB divx avi)
alas, I was too busy enjoying it to film the grand finale... would be great to see if others caught it.

I'm please to hear it went well (has anyone checked if Adam still has all 10 fingers?

Great videos as well: Can anyone tell me what the name of the effect is in the video posted above (UKPS 2006 fireworks opening (4mb divx avi)) where they go up mid-way and then turn into 1000s of little crackling things all going mad? - They are probably beyond my knowledge base at the moment, but I have often seen them in big displays and wondered what they were and how they are achieved.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Of course I'm green with envy that I didn't get there myself

Chris.

Well we managed to get 98% of the display off the ground despite a technical problem, good work Richard think we shall be using it again. Sorry I had to bugger off and leave everyone but the missus was not best pleased about her now BROWN car!

If anyone has any other picturse/vids then that would be great to see!
P.S Careful of those ditches Adam!

I think the effect is called "crackling time rain" - at least that was what the guys in China called it.
I also have no real idea how it was achieved, although if pressed to a guess I would say it involved dragons eggs with a dark burning comp rolled over them.

So, it seems we have a mystery effect on our hands???

It's a shame you haven't got any left to do a bit of "Reverse Engineering" on one of them. I (Safely of couse!)
I'm sure if the great minds on here (Meaning anyone apart from me) put there combined brain cells together, they can crack the secrets behind this effect.
It's kinda pretty and amusing and something a bit different.
Chris.
