its a good piece of kit as i bought it for me as a birthday prezzy! i only use it for setting off electrical maroons and the sequencer is a nicely added feature!

I have been away from pyro for a while due to having had Bowel cancer, but after having an operation to remove the tumor(Which measured 5" x 9" the size of a 5" canister shell??) ..

I have just had the good news that i am now OK!! .. no need for any further treatment so i can get back into pyro..

So to treat my self to the good news i would like a nice wireless remote control firing system..

The one i am looking at is the one at skylighter 12 cue GN6020 i only want it for setting off my own fireworks not for displays .Remote Control Firing System..

Has any member used this model with good results?...

Also while looking for other remote firing systems i have seen this BrightSpark..its very cheap ... Anyone had success with this gadget?

Also is there any cheaper place to buy electric matches than skylighter?

Hi sasman,

I have the sequencer version of the sytem your looking at and its great. You can buy e-matches from hfmgroup.com but ive had varying success with these, about 1 in 15 hasnt fired. But the system should have a continuity check on it which will help eliminate duds.

The Brighspark system is ok, my friend had one and it allows you to fire 5 fireworks individually one by one, trouble is infra red beam operation made it a bit tepremental if you werent in a direct line with the reciever, plus the ematches are expensive and if you want more than 5 channely without having to go back to the system its pretty useless.....

I have exactly the same system, they're imported by Kingdom fireworks I believe. They work well, the best feature I think is the rechargable battery, you'll be thanking the lord for that when you're out on the field and realise your normal AA batteries are dead.

Thanks for the info..Mixologist that link you gave for the electric igniters..I think there prices are very expensive!!. nearly a quid each???
It was some time last year and i cant find the link but i found somewhere that charged something like 25p each .. I have spent all day and cant find the damn link. ..
Also found some cheaper DIY electric match heads . I think they are the same as skylighter sells..

I have just emailed them for 500 matches... Has anyone used these match heads with the wireless remote,does the unit have enough power to light the match?..it uses 50 gauge NiChrome wire?..

Hey, glad to hear from you again! The guys with whom I used to fire displays use that unit, too. It is a reliable unit but is limited regarding firing current. I don´t know exactly what batteries it uses but a few ignitors in series (I know you don´t use them in series! tried that anyway...) and it didn´t fire them propperly.

The other show we used it as it is expected to be used and it worked well with many many metres of thin firing wire. The control-leds don´t shine all at the same brightness level, but I guess thats no problem at all. When setting up the display we didn´t know if the connections were working because of those damn "dark" leds.... Had to check it in the evening when it was darker. (the batteries were new, btw)

Safety level is ok, too!

I have just had an email for the electric matches asking what gauge NiChrome wire i need they offer 32 gauge or 50 gauge?.. I have no idea which size to go for? i asume the 50 gauge wire would require less current? so what size to go for? Any ideas....

I spotted those on pyrotubes.com .But have ordered the 12 cue without the sequencer..

The sequencer version takes 10 x 1.5 v batteries = 15 volts But the non sequencer version takes 12 batteries total 18 volts..So i reckon should have more power to pop my homemade igniters?..

I have ordered it from Pyromate.com cheaper than skylighter .. and its the newer model...Shipping is expensive at $85 but still works out cheap..

Well i had a phone call last night from UPS asking me to pay £14 import duty.. ..and it arrived this morning ..Only ordered it on wendsday..So fast delivery from USA

I have no e matches to test it..But reading some post's on another forum someone says it cant fire Nichrome?.. Only Ematches ..Will have to wait and see...

I did a quick test without ematches to test the range of the remote i left the field unit in the house and walked to the end my road about 300+ foot and it worked perfect ..

The remote control is very nice with a positive click when you press the buttons which also illuminates a small red LED..The Key switch is a bit cheap and tacky ...Overall seem nice piece of kit for the money..

Maxman.. Yes i have got it just for firing my Shells it will save me using Visco and quickmatch just wire in the E-match to the mortar. ..

It will be a few months before i make any shells.. I need to finish off a few more pyro-projects that i started but never finshed..

Does anyone know of anyone selling similar units currently (preferably in the uk)?

Ill happily buy a 2nd hand one (probably prefer it) if anyone has a spare or redundant one from upgrading?

Ideally not wanting to spend more than £100 so its not going to be spectacular but neither are some of my fireworks lol.

12 channels would be fine but if anyone knows of any for this kind of price that have more then it wouldn't bad.

Just Pm me if you have something for me.
