Hi,
Someone on another forum is moaning about the price of fireworks and im not convinced he's really got a point.
He's trying to say that firework prices since the mid 90's have risen massively. Is this true?
For example, he's trying to claim a ?40 300 multi shot cake which is priced at ?40 now, would of only cost about ?5.99 in the mid 90's. Is this utter nonsense or is it true?
I personally dont remember much about fireworks back then and when i was younger i dont remember big multishot things much at all, all we seemed to get was selection boxes/sparklers and rockets.
Thoughts?

Prices have gone up in recent years, but not by that much. If anything, fireworks are cheaper now with the influx of Eastern imports from Asia. One of the sole reasons for the decline in British manufacture was our inability to compete on price compared to the imported fireworks that started coming into the country en masse during the nineties.
While we cannot compete on price, I feel Europe still has the upper hand on quality.

All i can say is when i was a child (late 60's) £10 worth of fireworks lasted pretty much all night!
roman candles, bangers, catherine wheels, fountains and rockets.
Mind you back then ten quid covered rent, food and household bills for a week !
so i guess not much has changed, except the quality of the fireworks
regards

Fireworks with no bangs, would be like food with no taste!
Sure its edible, but who would want to eat it?
