Hi,

Just wanted to know if there is a certain way of putting a mixture together leaving you with a solid block?

Like if you buy smoke pellets, They come solid but havent been melted, Just like a piece of chalk?

Well you could try making stars out of the smoke comp, to do this you would need to add a binder then use a star pump or similar to compact it. Search for threads on star making for a lot of information on this

There are also composite smoke mixtures, similar to how composite rocket motors are created. They are cast. Pressing something like KNO3-Sucrose like a comet would hold it together. The sugar should act as enough of a binder.

Warning this mixture just seems to spew out lots and lots of smoke and burns very slowly, took 10minutes to burn out when i tried it, worst mix ever

I used 60 grams of potassium nitrate and 40 grams of dextrin, damn tried to put it out with water wouldn't go out.

Try this one, formula and method posted by Regi:

Sucrose (ordinary sugar) 40
Paraffin Wax 25
(1.92/1.6/1)

The wax needs to be ground up, do this by either freezing a paraffin wax candle for a few hours and then grating it, or by melting/freezing/grating paraffin wax pellets if that's all you have.
Then mix it with the sugar and KNO3, best not to mill it, just a mixing bowl will suffice.
Then ram/press it into a tube with a pre-rammed clay bung. It can be tricky to light, but blackmatch and a little loose composition should be fine.

If there are any problems igniting it, about 1% Fe2O3 will help! Tried a very similar mixture once and got way better smoking/igniting characteristics with the iron oxide in it! (with AND without melting the wax before adding the other components)
