Hi Steve,

Hows it going?

Despite your hectic schedule you seem to have found the time to take some really good pictures!

How many shows did you fire in total this year?

What was the weather like for you?

Here in swansea we were lucky enough to have clear skies / dry ground (appart from the condensation) during the entire weekend where 3 shows took place during the period (fri, sat, sun) - hopefuly i will have video + pics to show in the not so distant future.

Watch this space!
Who said there wasnt fireworks between us?

Hi Steve, Thanks for posting the photos - very good to see.

I didn't catch any fireworks in the air (too busy...), but here's the huge bonfire from the Oxford South Parks show:

and nature's own display on the 5th at my willow tree harvesting site:

Nice pics there.... I didnt get our bonfire being lit either, we loaded it with flares, firecrackers, left over quick match, lances, fountins (for the top) and anything we could find but I was on portfire duty for the display so by the time I got my camera it was pretty much burnt, still theres always next year :)

A 48" shell? Where?

Here are some photos from my 4th Nov garden display. Everything is Cat2 stuff (I haven't got a 50m radius), and almost all of it is Kimbolton. I'm not sure whether the family really appreciated the huge amount of crackles (which reached somewhat of a cacophony at times), but I certainly enjoyed running round for 25minutes lighting everything.

Note to self - don't light 6 whistle mines at the same time ever again - it's not an enjoyable sound : )

I must say I was impressed with the Kimbolton stuff - their Cat2 mines are really excelent, and I especially enjoyed the rockets with Titanium motors - nice lazy takeoff.

The file is a 15Mb .Zip - please let me know if the link goes wonky.

Aahh - that shell... gotta love that photo :D

I thought for a split second that one had been fired in the UK, but somehow I don't think that will happen for a while. Mabye the first record-breaking attempt for the UKPS? :P Bagsie lighting the fuse on that one!

Glad you liked the pics. If anyone else has any more of their own I always enjoy looking at others' efforts - keep 'em coming!

I volunteer to light the fuse as long as it's by remote control and I'm in FRANCE! :D

On the 4th, I helped to fuse up the guy for the Cliffe bonfire society in Lewes. Here's a picture of the Guy.

Posted Image

and here's the candles in the back.

Posted Image

on the 5th I fired my fan of Titanium gerbs and some of my rough and ready rockets amongst other bits.

Some went a bit low, I think because of the sticks being too light rather than the headers too heavy, they travelled in an arc, previous tests with proper sticks, (these were split bamboo), worked fine, The motor tube is plastic electrical conduit, that has been extensively tested so the mix is right and there are no CATO's. I am aware of the fragmentation potential if it all went wrong. The gerb fan was caught on video and I will try to post it soon , if someopne can point me to a video hosting site.
Organisation is a wonderful trait in others

Hey Guys,

Hows it going?

Keep up the good work ...

I am really enjoying hearing what others have been up to over the november period.

As for you creepin pyro, i think you have proven a point that if you are confined to cat 2 material it does not necessarily mean that you are confined to a crappy display - as you have just shown, its not what you use, but how you use it!

As for the Guy in the bonfire society display, I am deeply interested as to the concept behind this magnificent character - is there an entire display set up beneath the decorative coating or is this the basis of what was to be a truely magnificent bonfire .... please tell more as to what exactly is involved in the creation of a magnificent figure such as this.

Hope to hear from you all soon!

Lovely pics there Phil.

Nice to see that your "Tree" all lit up correctly as you were worry that it might not.

That fountain in the first pic looks very nice. Nice height and sparkle.
(Spill the beans: ID = ? Choke size = ? Secret comp = ?) :D

You've inspired me to work on a nice set piece for next year.

:)
