To anyone who has a welder and any ability, if you could weld me a crucible I'd be more than greatful and would be happy to trade something in return for it (cough I got lots of surplus PVC). I'm not wanting anything fancy, just a steel pipe with a couple of hooks, for aluminium casting. I can send the specs I want to you if you are interested. Just PM me, thanks

Just a thought, (depends on the size you need of course) the bottom of a CO2 bottle (as used by pubs) might make a good crucible. Vent the remaining gas, grind to size, drill and tap a couple of holes for bar handles.

I was really looking for a crucible the optimum size for my crucible, with lifting handles and such where I wanted them. Thanks anyways

BTW, why are you smelting lead? For the challenge?

You actually smelt the lead rather than just buying it pure? How do you manage that?

Cooperman, I'll PM you, sounds great.
