Thats a very unusual comp, never heard of it. Should work though, it's gonna be strong. On the dragon eggs rocket are they just poured into the top of the rocket? Please tell me you didn't press them in with the fuel. Also, no mineral oil or vaseline in the whistle mix?

There was no vaseline in the loose powder i burned but there is in the comp i use for rockets, and yeah the Dragon eggs were in a small cavity at the top of the rocket as i think they would not like being pressed :) and unfortunatly it seems they didnt ignite. video is here

Really nice job on those whistles! To bad about the dragon eggs, they take some serious prime though, they are a lot like strobe where they need to smolder before they hit critical mass and pop. Great sound from those whistles.

You can press dragon eggs right into compositions, and stars. Although I don't think it would be good for a rocket, but who knows!

We press crackling microstars right into stars at work, and I do at home as well. And they are not primed, they all work and light just fine.
The more I learn, the more I know I don't know.

Wouldn't the star comp act as a prime? What kind of pressures are you pressing the comp at?

Gallic Acid with chlorate is supposed to whistle as well, but be fairly sensitive. Other sort of aromatic carboxalate salts should probably preform similarly with the whistling as well. Benzoates and salicyliates are used most commonly because they are cheap on the market due to their use as preservatives.
