Hello
Went to the ideal home show today and found the firework emporium stall, they were selling these indoor firework kits so picked one up out of interest.

Most of the fireworks are weak strobe effect but one that a really liked was this one called slithering serpents which once lit produces a long black 'snake' of ash. If anyone watches southpark its the same as the one on that.

Anyway what is this and how is it made?
cheers

They used to be made out of mercury thiocyanate. This has been phased out though. Now I believe they are made from nitrated pitch. Neither are really indoor things I would use. I'm not sure what the indoor variety are.
