Please trust me when I say I actually read through thirty pages of the Flash powder sticky thread. My question is this, from the skylighter page just recently updated with instock product, which two items do you suggest for a flashpot in a magic show?
The product bought at a shop or online is getting so expensive and in such small amounts.

I am looking at the 70/30 [KClO4]/Aluminum, flake, dark, German Blackhead.
Meaning which of the [KClO4] will work best in this mix?
So many choices.
Thank you for any and all responses.

Am I right in thinking that you are looking for 'stage flash' effect, ie a sparkling bright white flash with a loud 'whomph' noise and a mushroom cloud from a pot on the floor? If so, KClO4 and Dark Al is NOT the way to go. This is essentially a concussion mix - it can be used with specialist concussion pots (think of a small vertical cannon...) but the effect in small theatres is a loud bang equivalent to kicking your audience in the head
The exact grade of KClO4 is not really important if it is ground up fine before use - the mix of Al types is critical. You could try some of the finer grades of mixed flake Al. These will need a good e-match to ignite but will be more sparkly and still give a good 'puff' if moderately confined (ie in a cardboard pot with a glued paper cover).
Unfortunately the formulae for stage pyrotechnics are proprietary and usually secret, but are tried and tested and so often worth the money...

Roger that. This is used in an electronic flash pot but the two small tubes bought online supply maybe ten shots at around $15.00 bucks and I was looking for the same combination of chems in larger quanities.
I look forward to any more discussion you guys are willing to give on this either by PM, email or on the forum.
I appreciate the reply.

p.s. Kicking the audience in the head is not what I was looking for. lol
