I was told that new regulations for rockets are coming into force. Do these relate to revisions of BS7114?

There are new EU regulations coming in July that make the larger style rockets (the ones about 4.5 - 5ft long) illegal and limiting the amount of flash in bursts on all cakes and rockets. Not quite sure of the full details but i'm sure they are available on the internet somewhere.

Do some research on the UN series 5 tests conducted by TNO, BAM, HSL. The report they submitted makes for very interesting reading, and the video of their tests at http://www.chaf.info may assist in driving home why these particular fireworks have been reclassified 1.3G generally speaking.

The video of the container of rockets going up is awesome - and obviously very much a detonation unlike the shells which although a mass explosion is a more or less simultaneous burst effect. Too much flash in the rockets methinks! - it would be interesting to know exactly what those "60g" rockets were. The changes don't necessarily completely outlaw big rockets, the changes are to DEFAULT classifications, hence there's nothing to stop one of the bigger brands making devices with reduced bursts etc., and testing them to prove they're 1.4G - though it is an expensive process.

That video made me think, a terrorist organisation with large amounts of money (and several helpers)could purchace enough fireworks (from different locations to aviod suspicion) to fill a lorry and do some serious damage in a crowded place.

Would take a lot of dosh to get a few tons of fireworks! Can't see it happening, for lots of reasons. Certainly would be damaging though.

thanks for the link to the tests richard,the 60g rocket test looked very bad,its all about safety and you cant argue about that ! thanks for answering my question :)just had to watch it again! nice mushroom on the waterfalls
