I am a college student dabbling in a search for a new hobby. I done quite a bit of research over the last couple of weeks. Always enjoyed the practical side of chemistry Alevel chemistry class's killed it for me. Now more focused on envrionmental and biological science. I am trying to re flame my love of chemistry. I done research into the UK laws now it come down to safety and chemicals
Now its time to start the flow of money and try most likely a KNO3 + sugar smoke reaction for the simple reason its a safe start.
My main question is safety equipment what do you recommend?
On a side note where is the best place to buy chemicals needed? www.hobbychem.co.uk have a good selection is there any others you recommend?
Sorry for the rambling post.

If you're careful at basic levels, you'll need very little saftey equipment. I've never had a real injury from pyro, just very minor cuts and burns, and I don't tend to hype up safety. Nomex gloves might be a good investment, and saftey goggles, but common sense will keep you safe for now. As you get more advanced, you'll need screens but even then it's not so much equipment, as precautions, like grounding yourself while working with sensitive comps and keeping a good distance. Try www.gardendirect.co.uk for blackpowder components, and www.inoxia.co.uk will provide all you need atm.

Thanks will check out those sites. I had a decent pair of eye protection but end of college year which is a shame. O well I will just have to buy another pair.
blast screens I found this site earlier http://www.thecalder...lastShield1.htm.
