some bloke on this page
talks about making Mexican Triangle bangers.

" I have made many BP crackers which work well but these were all of the
mexican triangle kind. The geometry of these devices allows for a satisfying
bang, even with fairly poor grade BP."

Does anyone know how these are made?

thanks

They use flash not Bp. We call them Doritos here. They are a simple piece pf cardboard like the kind found at wallgreens which is cut into a diamond shape. This is then folded in half so the 2 tips of the diamond are touching, this creates the triangle shape. They are secured with glue and fused at the tip. No additional encasement other than the thin cardboard, and yes they are satisfying.

I think they are also sometimes called polumnas, which have a semi-complicted concertina like fold

Polumnas are folded with one long strip of paper instead of two pieces of cardboard as Caramanos describes. Polumnas can also use other compositions than flash powder.

They're triangles, and can operate well with bp, as opposed to needing flash aren't they? I might be wrong though

The actual correct term is Paloma, which is spanish for dove. The polumna spelling came about from some "kewl bomz" type document that was spread around the internet during the early 90's.

I made them and they worked quite well! I used a nitrate based "flash" powder, not bp thougt.

I have tried a few in the past, ones with BP and H3 work well, not tried flash in one yet though. Around 0.1g of balsa H3 is extremely loud.
You can never have a long enough fuse...

I've tried it once with granulated BP. This is the only cracker I've made that I can recall :P
