i understand when you make rockets you use clay to bung in one end bt i was wondering can plaster of paris be used?

You can try, personally I found that the inside of it dries and doesnt allow the bottom to dry, I just use cat litter and a stick to ram it.

I have a question that may be slightly relevant here.

Is Plaster of Paris a safe casing to use to cover twined salutes in order to get more of a bang?

I wouldn't consider it safe. There is always a chance a chunk of it could fly off instead of turning to dust.

Just use more twine and rub paste into the string, that should give it plenty of confinement.

Yes a long as it consolidate's into a solid mass your ok .If your making the paste you could have problems,like shrinking and can render the enplug usless,but standerd cat litter works great and a bag will do thousands of nozzles/endplugs
