I just havent found any supplier of nitric acid and it would be realy usefull so i can make my own nitro-cellulose as an additive to bp. I doubt there are any shops that sell it in the UK so i decided to make it.
Do any of you know a good way of making relitivly strong nitric acid or does anyone know where to buy it?

Pure nitrocellulose can be bought in the UK, and most lab supplies carry Nitric acid...

I really wouldn't recommend synthesizing high-explosives yourself though!

Why would you want to add NC to BP anyways?

you`ll be lucky to get conc nitric as an indivdual buyer, the best you`ll get is 38% (and you can buy that all day long), you Can distill this however but it does form an azeotrope, so a 68% conc is about as good as you`re likely to get!
however with 98%+ H2SO4 and in excess NC is perfectly easy to make

if you want NC and are not particularly bothered how nitrated it is, ping-pong balls are the answer
dissolved in Acetone makes a good NC laquer too (waterproofong for shells and fuze)

Don't try to make Nitric Acid yourself. For ping pong and NC please read existing threads.
