Nothing you could say would top coating paper in vaseline...... Infact i'd like to hear your say.

Anyway back to the topic, anyone have any glitter sparkler formulas? I tried some with D1 glitter but it burned too fast and a stray spark is not uncommon. Or perhaps some tips on what to coat the sparkler in to stop the stray spark ignition problem?

Ive considered a couple turns of light craft but unless the sparkler is super smooth and super consistant its only going to quickmatch on me...

Any ideas on how to slow the formula without diminishing the glitter?

How about tubed sparklers? They will be resistant to stray sparks, and in my experience they burnt much longer too. As an added bonus, you can even write on them what you put in. I also find them easier to make.

[EDIT] By the way, that glitter fountain formula I posted a while back looked like it would work OK for sparklers (I mentioned a waterfall at the time), but I didn't try it.

Ive tried ramming glitter in a tube but... talk about slag build up! perhaps using something like quickmatch style pipe and filling that with slurry? or lightly tamp the damp comp in there? Got a 4 day weekend in...2 days so i might have a fiddle with em. What i would LOVE is a glitter stinger! *drools*

Yes, even the glitter fountain formula was drossy, but as I said in the fountain post I layered a bit of meal with it to clear the choke. In fact you could incorporate a bit of grain BP with the glitter to prevent too much dross building up, but this may have a negative effect on the effect. However, I believe tubed sparkler tubes are ment to burn away with the composition, rather like a hand-held lance. That's what I've always aimed for.

Glitter stingers, now that _would_ be great. In fact I might even have to try that sometime. No doubt it's been tested and failed before, but hey, should be fun!

BigG, now that you have used up your quota of letters for the year you are not allowed to type any more. You can of course 'top-up' your word count my sending me a ?50 cheque :)

Spawned, why do you suggest K2SO4?

And what is wrong with the website? Any constructive criticism is welcomed...

I say K2SO4 because i use it alot and i use it when slowing things because it is a very good oxidiser yet only works under extreme heat this would mean that it would still have an oxidising effect but lesser so thus slowing the whole reaction down unless your fuel burns shot then it would make it faster..........

But your fuel would have to be hot for it to decompose in the first place.
