Just thought i'll start this thread.

if any one is going next year, perhaps we could meet up and have a beer or two between the Mascleta and the EARLY morning displays (12 and 1AM)
there is a bunch of 8 of us this year and my 7th year..! we plan to travel on the 15th March and home on the 20th.

BOOK NOW: easyjet are doing some good prices at the moment so grab them while you can.
BEWARNED: hotel prices have gone through the roof for this time of year - if you have the cash and want to stay in town excpect to pay about 200euro and more a NIGHT.
there are some nice hotels south of valencia (sili saler) that charge about 500euro for the week.

Any more info, if you want it, please leave in this thread so it in one place.

For info on this event: www.fallas.com

A few of us go, I went this year and it was a great laugh. Next year I might be going but I also have to go to Malta to visit my friends so depending how much spare time/money I have I may not go to Valencia but I would recmmend it to anyone, pleanty of trouser flapping at the Mascaletta and late nights making noise with stuff you bought from Pyroshopping!

Doubt I will be going next year, its just gotten silly with regards to hotel prices.

I guess it could partly be down to the fact that the festival falls within the UK easter holidays, or just down to the fact that its getting more and more popular and the hotels are cashing in.

I've been for the past 3 years and had a great time each year, I am sure I will miss it in 2008

Gigantic Crab!!! plans to attend with his posse of molluscs, though he may be staying out of town due to costs.
Pincers cannot steer motor vehicles!!! So Gigantic Crab!!! will be safe to imbibe whilst his minions proffer the transport.

Well we're going again, obviously.

Doesn't look like anyone else is though as it's only 2 weeks away for Las Fallas 2008 ......

Giving it a miss this year, been for the past two years and will be going again next year in 2009. Hotel prices for 2008 are very high owing to Easter falling early.

If you have found somewhere to stay and are going, then have fun!

You're right, it's getting to be a very expensive week - lucky the flights are so cheap.

If it's not the golf then it's easter .... I always think that you need a decent hotel so that you can get away from the noise for a few hours each day. I'm always completely exhausted when I get back due to lack of sleep !

We always stay in the Holiday Inn but it's nearly a grand for the week these days ;-(((

I still can't believe the Valencia council haven't banned/moderated/policed it a bit more yet - it's getting more riotous every year from what I can see. Although, in fairness, it's always completely cleared up the day after Las Fallas ends - so much so that you'd never know it had happened. Plus, I've yet to see someone injured, apart from burned fingers and tinitus, obviously ;-)

Speaking of which, we lit a 'nest' of just short of 500 borrachos in a large pile in the park last year. Going for 1000 this time ... to everyone else they're tourbillions (Spanish for drunk as there is no way of predicting which way they're going to go next ...).

RipRap: You'll be pleased to know that you can get Grasshoppers (can't remember what they are called over there) but the best value (for money / laughs) item is called 'Atomicos' (about €4 for 10) - find them at Platon (Pyroshopping) catalog

RipRap - that's the shop I was talking about (see link above).

Revised Shopping List :-

No.7 Flight Rockets (Maroon Heads)
Boracchos (Tourbillions)
Truenos (largest size you can get)
Atomicos
Aborhorros (Bees) - just for a laugh
Stickless Rockets (stinger missiles) - very cool
Jumping Jacks (Grasshoppers)

(Feel free to add to this list and repost it ....)

I usually spend more on pyro than hotel bills ;-)

As does everyone else I suspect ....

Cheers Adam (& Bub) for that info. I will mark that shop on my map :D Are you going this year Adam?

Its the things like the grasshoppers, spinners etc that you can no longer get here, that I am most looking forward to.
