can anybody tell what the name off the threading tool on this lathe video is called?

Hi Chris,

It's called a tapping head. It has 3 or 4 sets of "jaws" that have the thread size machined in them. When it reaches the correct depth of thread required, it releases. They cost anything from £200 through to £2000 plus the jaws.

im guessing for home use a tap and die woud be a bit cheaper, lol and just as good when done right.

lol youve never seen me use a tap and die then! i can cross thread anything,no probs
my mig welding technique is interesting as well, again "i can burn through anything no probs"

Ive only recently started welding, wanted to do some car repairs and some other projects. i evidently bought a arc welder instead of MIG. lets just say i spend 1 min making a big hole 30 mins filling that hole back in again, 20 grinding and then i have a really crap weld. I'm guessing it should take like 30 sec's with the right tools.

didnt know where to post saw the movie lol but its relevant as im cutting a 4lb rocket rammer, enjoy ^_^.
on a lighter note i found this page on pulleys most helpful when working out belt and pulleys speeds, maybe helpful for people building ball mills
