Does anyone know of a decent tutorial that tells u how to make a roman candle?-Diagram!!

The very first post in the link i gave you (using the search function) in the other thread explains how a roman candle is put together.If your just starting out then a single shot candle (star gun) is your first step.

Here is a pic of what the inside looks like.I apologise for the crappy pic,but i thing it illustrates it ok



A multishot candle is fused from the top and is basically a tube with a clay plug at the bottom,then a charge of BP,a star on top,then a delay mix and the process is repeated...BP-star-delay-BP-star-delay and so on,depending on how many shots you want.

You'll want to put a layer of something tough like sawdust in between each layer of composition and have a fuse going down the tube.

What I do is fill the bottom of the tube with clay and press it. I then stick some 1/8" fuse in. Then, I put a bit of pulverone, and then my effect. After that I preceed to cover that with a little ball of sawdust and press that so the composition is firmly under it. I rince and repeat the process multiple times........

I find this achieves much more height and a cool lift sound.

Roman Candles are fun to experiment with because of all the different effects you can pack into one, like a sandwich. You can have microstars iin one layer, a large comet in another, a .50" shell in one, etc.

Trad Brit candles use all BP for propellant, star and delay. and incorporate coarse charcoal say 10 - 20 mesh for sparks.

Typical Chinese candles have an inert plug with a length of fuse down for the timing element between the stars.

The stars can be anything compatible! Also they may be multi effect - colour change, colour to bang, and other things.
