Im sure many of you must have heard about the Bristol Balloon Fiesta and more importantly the fireworks that acompany the night glows on the thursday and saturday nights. I am lucky enough to know the director of Skyburst TFC through his son :) . Each year i like to go up on the firing hill and just check out all the pyro that's going to be fired in that nights display, this year was no exeption. I joined Alan and the crew on the Thursday afternoon and managed to take many photos of the set up process. Alan informed me that this year thursday night's display will not contain any cakes or candles but will be a pure Shell show. The display would be using shells sized from 3" all the way up to 6" Thursdays show would involve around 600 shells being fired in 8 minuits and 19 seconds. Below are a few of the photos i took on the hill and a link to the actual display.

Sorry for the overdose of pictures, i tend to get a bit carried away when it comes to pyro :)

Hope some of you find this interesting, go easy on me, its my first post :P

Good post, great pics, Welcome to the madhouse.

There is lots to learn and just a short but satisfying show after all the work!

Are you sure that there are no cakes or candles? The silver tailed variegated bursts at the bottom right of the screen when the fireworks start on the video, definitely look more like bombettes than shells. If they are shells, then they have a pretty poor burst. I would expect this from a cake or bombette candle, but not 3" shells upwards.

Otherwise, thanks for posting it. Very nice to see.

Thursdays display didn't involve any cakes or candles, however, saturdays display did, what i am thinking is the video i posted is infact an edit between both of the displays and not the one night i was taking photos. I didn't manage to film the Thursday night display as my camera decided to drain the batteries :(. If i manage to find a video of the full display ill be sure to post it.

Sorry about the mix up guys :(

No problems. I just thought they didn't look particularly shell like.
