i am about to try to roll up some Flitter stars using David blesers #14 Flitter comp the formula calls for Aluminium dark(flake) , The nearest i have is Ekhart 5413 Super H? would this be to fine...

Has any member made of any of these stars & how did they perform?. Also how big should i roll them up for a 6" shell

With that very fine AL unconfined it will probably behave as a slow or dirty flash formula, so be very carefull!!!
I think the stars would have to be rather large because the burnrate is very high.
How to you plan on making them, cut or pressed?
Rolling is near impossible with this kind of composition.

I tried a ''flitter'' or silver streamer formula once using a formula posted by Mike Swisher on rec.pyrotechnics, it also can be found in the passfire formula database.

Potassium Chlorate 12
Aluminum, flake, bright. -325 mesh, 36 micron 5
Potassium Nitrate 2
Aluminum, flake, flitters, fine. 100-325 mesh 2
Dextrin 2
Red Gum 1

He used wallpaper paste to bind it and than proceeded CUTTING them, well I omitted the wallpaper paste,bigggg mistake.
I´m not a big fan of cutting star comps but I proceeded.
Boy what a mess it made!!!, impossible to work with, I dumped the whole btch after a few hours of frustration.
Maybe will try the formula again when I finish my new starplate, it should be a realy nice effect with long tails of bright silver.
If you have the chems and patience I would try this one, I´m to are very curious how it will perform.
