I was under the impression that single shot air b**bs were banned? I found this in the Devco Thunder Selection Box from fireworkemporium.co.uk

Posted Image

It says just "Air b**b" on the front of it (not shown) and the back says: "Effects: Ejects bang" as in bang, singular.

If it does what it says on the tin, as it were. Then no it's not legal. keep quiet and enjoy the fact you have one is my advice.

Apparently it's fine... I got this reply from fireworks emporium:

After the ban it was agreed that there should be a sell through scenario so that there wouldn’t be thousands of airbombs deteriorating in storage and becoming unstable, also it was felt that a blanket ban of current stocks might find their way onto the black market.

I think it is still legal to include airb0mbs in selection boxes, it is just illegal to sell them on their own. It is of course illegal to sell the contents of selection boxes individually.

OK, interest in fireworks to be resumed in the spring. It usually is. ;)

Really? The other day I was looking in a corner shop, the firework section included a selection of small single shot aerial salutes...

There are all sorts of ways to get round the 'bans'. For example, When 'B*ngers' were made illegal, these "Garden Fireworks" appeared, that were basically a b*nger with a coloured flare as a delay fuse; legal b*ngers!

I've seen the same trick used on air b*mbs before. I've also seen aerial salutes that crackle for a second after; legal air b*mbs!

So what all together are we going to loose next year.
I know that we are going to loose some of the larger size rockets, but what is going to be the largest shell size that is going to be legal ?
My local stockist has a £100 rocket pack discounted to £58.75, it has quite a few large rockets in it, one of them being an 'ORB', which I seem to think is quite a good one isn't it, not having seen one myself.

Orb got rave reviews on the UKFR, but I never really thought it was that special. A nice burst, but not quite a "wow" factor burst. As with all big rockets, heavily window dressed/over packaged, too.

Have to say that I am in favour of moderating the retail available fireworks, AND adding a qualification for firers. Also being interested, most forum members here would be more competent than the general public in the safe use of fireworks. Even little stage effects are being regulated for competent users only yet I can go into my local store and buy cat3 over the counter.

My evenings currently are to the sound of air b"mbs with crackle!

Keep mannequins and watermelons away from fireworks..they always get hurt..
