I remember buying 4'' shells with a reloadable mortar - you got three shells and the mortar, and a portfire, for £10. They were good, with nice powerful breaks. Peony, Chrysanth, and Ring. I think those particular ones that I bought were from Cosmic. I was sad to see them go, but after that tragic incident with the headmaster, and one or two others, it was inevitable that they would be restricted to Cat 4.
Do it safe - Do it right - or - Don't do it at all.

I believe they were banned from sale in 1997, following two accidents, one of which invloved a Headmaster if you click the link it takes you to the story.
I agree with what the posters above have said- they are very dangerous- searches of this years news acrhieves and You Tube will help you find out more.
That's right.
They were not banned, they were just reclassified as cat4, thus unobtainable by the public.

Although it is easy to scoff at the firework code, had the aforementioned headmaster followed it he would still be with us.
It's pure coincidence as I am in a different part of the country, but a good friend of mine is a friend of the headmaster's family.
Dangerous hobby, always worth remembering.
