As you find more, and more interesting chemicals, you will regret wasting the ones you had on trivial projects.

Read lots of books, BUY them for lifetime reference! Find the simple formulae for the nice pretty effects. There is nothing macho about going through life with bits missing due to youthful enthusiasm without wise counsel.

Rather than looking for it to waste on you should conserve it until you actually need it for a specific project.

The main problem with pyro is sourcing the materials, so having sourced one thing source some more.

With KNO3 and sulphur and various sizes of mesh of charcoal you can make lift charge, stars, candle comp, cones, fountains and rocket fuel.

Add some colours such as Strontium salts and barium salts and some iron and steel filings and you have the basis of a very good though simple firework display.

Sugar is for tea, chlorate has several incompatibilities so avoid it, at least til you understand what you are doing.

Sulfur and charcoal are not hard to source, and simply by mixing them with KNO3 in various ways and proportion you can get bazillions of effects (rockets, fountains, hummers, wheels, shells,... )
