Happy New Year 2008!
Hope you all had a great evening with lots of friends, fireworks and boooze
My evening was great, but all I shot was a 30g 7/3 3" shell which did a great
job welcome the new year. Damn that was loud
Stay safe guys! Btw: Is anyone able to get a TV (or whatever rip/self-recorded videos) of the
Thames Firework ?! Would be great. Last year there was a HDTV version of it...
All the best to you,

Cant say my new years will be as fun, just going to be wasting a box of fireworks that rolled over from nov 5th. Though me and a friend are having a challenge on making the best electrical detonator based on 3 points,
Ease of Use
Cost
Reliability
Winner buys the drinks for the night.
i laughed like crazy when i read that. i had the exact same competition with one of my mates. little did he know i had been making perfectly reliable igniters for months. i made a video instuctional and it's on youtube if you want to see:
i use these for every one of my experiments, and they even work underwater.

I trusted the filming to an erudite quantum field theorist so somehow it's all sideways, but here's the partial vid in sequence:
Wild Space cake, 2 * Great Moment whistle cakes, 2 * Earth Shaker Ti salute cakes, 2 * Spaceborne Radar candles, Harmonious Swan fan cake
Xmas 07 Cat 3 Cakes (Divx avi, 26 MB)
All good fun and probably the last time we'll see some of these effects in Cat 3 in the UK...

Mad Max Fountain (TNT)
Large Comet b**b + Slammer 4 shot (TNT)
Galaxy rocket (TNT)
2 * Crackling Star + 1 * Dragon Fire fountains (TNT)
4 * Party Time 6 shot + 1 * Party Time 16 shot (TNT)
Aerial Salute mine (Cosmic)
Carribean Sunset 16 shot (Millenium)
Lucky Stars 19 shot (Firework Emporium)
Starry Starry Night 16 shot (Millenium)
Burn out + Discovery rockets (Weco)
Golden Pollocks 25 shot (Firework Emporium)
Crazy Kamuro 19 shot (Sovereign)
Blue Apollo rocket
Static Autumn Leaves 22 shot (Firework Emporium)
Starburst 16 shot (Sovereign)
75mm Silver Tourbillon mortar mine (Sovereign)
All in all a pretty good display and a chance to fire some FE and Sovereign fireworks to try them out ready for my November display. The highlight was my daughters choice of the Starburst (Pink comets to pink tipped gold palms) she is only 4 1/2 and has class in selecting her pyro . The Crazy Kamuro was very good value at £5 with a large burst for the size cake. The disappointment was the mortar mine as I thought it would be a good finale, a bit like a small version of a 100mm Minster mine - the effect was just a few tourbillons with a blind rise which was not what I expected.
