Yay, I made some maroons today from Chlorate BP. A paper tube rolled around some dowling about 5mm thick and 1cm long, big bang. For the pop mixture I used some Chlorate BP. Something I noticed was if you use Instant Light BBQ Charcol instead of 'real' charcol is it is a hell of a lot safer. I tright igniting it by hitting it (from a safe distance) with a hammer on a long stick and it didnt do anything. Also I think its lack of sensitivity was also due to the fact that I milled it in a Pepper Mill and not a Ball Mill.

I still think chlorate blackpowder is a silly and most dangerous thing to make!

I would not touch it with a barge pole.

It is posible to make a bang with Chlorate BP or Black Powder. Like I said, the pop mixture is just in some paper tubes rolled around some dowling and they are very small and make a loud bang. Made some more today :D Might send a pic to Pyromaster to put on his website. He doesnt know that the forum has changed, he is going to get quite a shock when he comes on again.

Simple, you don't do it. Think of it like this, chlorate and sulphur is a very unhappy marriage, chlorate and red phosphorous is the bride of frankenstein meets Dr. Jekyll.

It's the only way to start in my opinion, however most people start with NaClO3 and sugar!

I am guilty :P . It is still pretty good. Packed some ground NaClO3 and sugar into a tube about an 15cm ID and 5cm tall and it burnt for 40 seconds, nice little flare. :D Got a video of it if anybody wants to see.
Oh and I like the calander feature, you can all see when my B'Day is this month and send me some stuff. Couple of kiols of German Dark and Potassium Perchlorate should do the trick

Right, today I made some more Maroons but set them off under water in a bucket. Now, here's the question-why does the bucket (full of water) jump a foot into the air?!?! So, a bit light mabye I think. One Maroon later and a bucket of water with a stone in the bottom and it still dont stay put  . Thats it methinks, time to get serious :D . Same as before but this time with 4 bricks and a stone in and yet it still jumps. The bucket must have weight about 15 kilos in the end but it still jumped...WWWHHHYYY!!!! Go to my website and look in the vides section to see all 3 jumping.

The answer is simple. Think of one of Newton's classical laws.

"For every action there's an equal and opposite reaction".

Force (F) = Mass (M) x Acceleration (a) (f=ma)

In simple terms, you've got recoil!
