Just throwing in 2 cents, Il mesure out the exact amounts later, For the time being you can mesure it by volume with a tbl spoon.

Glad to be back...not logged into the members forum yet, but hoping you are keeping an eye on who is allowed in there and with what credentials!
Great to see Bernie is still getting stick from the Brits!!!!!!

If your so concerned Robbie perhaps you would like to become a forum moderator. If this is the case please email me with some details about your own experience with pyrotechnics.
Cheers

It is being sorted out... we noticed a sudden influx of 'not nearly serious enough' types joining up. It's a major clutter on the system, and on our minds too. Shortly, as Richard said, potential members will have to prove their worth. If they dont make the grade, then this isnt the place for them.
A major overhaul will be coming this way soon.

I am fortunate enough to have never read one of his posts but unfortunatley share his name!
Rich....I know that this string is now going along the wrong lines, but do you have the ability to display a posters server IP therefor identifying regular "fools" that have used a new name? Seen it done on other forums to great effect!
Keep up the good work guys.

I have noticed looking at threads for the last few months nobody is discussing items such as shell contruction or candle building any longer! bring it back .
Speaking as a fool myself I have all the correct licenses required and I know he does! which makes any one building fireworks at home a greater fool than he.
What is is the percentage of the members here building fireworks illegally at home in this present climate of terrorist activites. being a man who uses words as a living in court I would reactivate my thought as to what certain members reply to in this forum as it is all being watched by the goverment departments from local to mainstream.
Good luck every one and where are all the 8" crossette shell builders gone

So your garden shed is registered as a factory site....yeah right.
So which pyro firm do you guys work for? If you are all so legit then i'm sure you won't have a problem telling me.
I can see apart from my self and him I do not see any other members with the knowledge that he has. You read his threads and you will see that this man's no fool.
I don't think that comment is fair at all. Adam is a very accomplished shell builder, Bernie and a few others in here certainly know their stuff.
Also, I couldn't help but notice you two have similar IP addresses and the same ISP...how improbably bizarre! .

If you were referring to me in your 'home' comment, then maybe you would like to know that I actually work at an explosives factory, so as far as being legal goes, what more can I say. I also understand that Rob does, and don't go jumping to conclusions.
I dont want to go around strutting my prowess, but I have made 8" RAP and paper pasted cylidrical shells, and multi-break cylinder shells (up to 4"). Oh, and crossettes too. I was also invited to have a go at building shells in China, and duly did. I would consider myself an intermediate pyrotechnist, but then again I would regard myself as modest, so I dont feel great about saying that...
Rob, if you dont feel like cutting wads yourself, I have lots of 30mm felt fibre wads and countless tubes to go with them. Contact me if you are interested.

In my humble opinion this forum should have only one criterion for membership, and that is an honest interest in the subject. If you want to create an elitist club for professionals where anyone who asks a 'stupid' question is shot down in flames and made to feel unwelcome then just say, and I for one will withdraw.
From what I have seen, and I think I have now read every post ever posted, the number of naieve questions is minute compared to the number of silly, irrelevant generally pissing about replies from the 'pros'. And if some guy is making an attempt to contribute by talking in teaspoons, then I welcome his interest, if he is doing something dangerous then we can tell him.
I for one take exception to your pyro-fascist remarks and I am surprised richard that you invite this guy to be a moderator.

Regarding your pro/am quote ratio, if this is what you are getting at, then the number of irrelevant, casual, joking posts is, in my opinion, well, irrelevant. What the forum cannot have is members, who are not into pyro seriously and just want to make 'sum big M80', posting asking questions that are easily answerable with a search and submitting their own (or ripped from the Anarchists Cookbook) formulae that are blatantly dangerous. I completely understand the seriuous member's concerns over this. This is why we are cracking down on it.
Regarding the tablespoons v weight issue, PyroNitrate is showing serious interest, and although naive, his post was with good intent. Just a bit of guiding is all that is needed.
Like I have said before, and as also outlined in the rules, bone-idleness (such as not searching but creating a new topic on 'How do I make flash powder', or is that being lazy as it takes a lot more effort to create a new topic...), a complete disregard for safety, especially when a member has been corrected previously but has not taken heed, or downright stupidity will not be tolerated.
I understand both side's argument, and we are trying to come to the best conclusion to resolve this by weeding out the people who fit the description above.
