Hello,
I know that Wheat flour is often used as a paste for binding purposes, but I am curious as to whether whole wheat flour, with a proper fuel to help iniate its burn, could be used to make "fire dust" sparklers or something of the likes. I really want to make these but I'm not sure whether I want the go ahead to waste my time on it or not....
Thanks

Here’s a nice gold cut star that uses wheat flour as a fuel and to cool the combustion. This takes a long time to dry if dampened with water only, so use 70/30 water and alcohol. Using wheat paste in place of plain flour will make the mix gummy.

Some formulas use wheat paste as a binder. This is somewhat along the lines of what you are looking form. Not exactly a fuel, but it is involved. Several flitter type streamers with a lot of fine-ish flake Al, and firefly stars will use wheat paste to bind instead of dextrin or SGRS or something similar. I speak from experience when I say that wheat paste is almost mandatory for the flitter stars.
