Update.
I got my first rocket to fly today. yay! 'twas a 5cm long, 10mmID, 3mm core with some 75:15:10 pestle & mortar BP. flew about 20feet into the air.

Congrats! If you want to tweak the power from this point you can expirement with longer cores.

Remember, with longer cores you need to increase nozzle size or you will most likely get a CATO because of the larger surface area which increases burning speed.

i agree, with longer cores you do get cato's, but i keep the same 1/3 id nozzle size ,and with tweaking of the fuel they can work, Ive made quite a few 3lb,ers with 8"cores, they are slow but go very high :)

Hi Again,

I'm fine tuning my ball mill at the moment (fancy switch/AC converter ect.) so im assuming my fuel is going to be a lot faster from now on so I will probably keep the dimentions the same and see what happens before changing core length/nozzle diameter ect.

Looking to make/ buy some tooling and start making some 3/4 inch ID rockets, anybody know how much I will have to pay and where I can get it from?

Cheers,
Mike.

Both sell top quality tools, but if you fancy having ago at making your own, it's not that hard at all.

This page from the 'rockets with headers' thread will give you a idea of how, (all you need is a drill and a angle grider) and some calculations on core length etc.

Greg sells some very nice 1lb BP tooling that wont cost you a arm and a leg to buy.
