In my own experience, home made black match will often skip fire and go up all at once. Home made quickmatch (until you get really expert at making it) will sometimes hang-fire for several minutes. Both problems are potentially very dangerous.
For real displays it's best use PIC for delay and commercial quickmatch to link items for instant firing.
Running away from my own small tests I tend to use good quality 2.2mm Chinese visco. There are several sources available if you search the forum

Hey guys...I would know like to know which is the best fuse to use...basically, I need a decent amount of time to get away without using alot of fuse itself, and needs to be reliable, and maybe cheap aswel...also some comments on fuses would be appriciated!
Thanks guys!
theres a brand new remote firing system coming out this year hopfully in time for GFN that will allow you to fire up to 20 fireworks remotly it works along the same lines as the BrightSpark unit thats out now though is VASTLY improved with a 100% succes rate with fuse firing unlike the BrightSpark system that is on sale now
use this and you wont have to be worried over having a decent amount of time to get away
its also fully legal for anyone to use assuming your the correct age to be able to buy it/and fireworks obviously
2 systems are due out
a basic 5 shot then re-arm unit that consists of a reciever and remote control and also a pro unit that has the same remote control but has 4 recievers all controled from it allowing 20 fireworks to be fired
