Hey guys, um, my mate has just mixed some BP together, he used the nitrate which he got from Garden Direct...some sulphur which he got from BQ and then ground it up to make it finer, and then some lump wood charcoal, again ground up...so he mixed it together and when he burnt it, it burnt, but like white foam and stuff came out of it....and it sticky too. Does anyone know whats wrong?

Thanks

Next time try doing some reading and you would easily have found the answer to your problem...

Anyway, the particles are probably too large and not mixed nearly well enough. You will need to either make it via the CIA method or get a ball mill.

There's many factors concerning BP production. The chances are the sulphur is 'Flowers of Sulphur', you want 'Rhombic Sulphur'. You can make ok BP with Flowers, but Rhombic is the one to go for, more so due to It's low acidity. Then you've got Charcoal, BIG variant. You've also got particle size of each chemical. etc, etc, ect

My suggestion is build a ballmill, and search the forum. You will find everything you need to know on top quality BP production here
