Hey my 2nd post.

Have been doing displays with my father for a number of years now for friends and family, but we used to just pop down the garden centre and just buy the products which we think would look good. Last year spent about £200 on kimbolton fireworks as the only place we found around us stocking fireworks was said garden centre. All in all I was disappointed, kimbolton stuff is good quality but just doesn't have the WOW factor and seems a little tame.

Been researching the last few days and the internet really does help, especially with videos. Brothers pyro seems seriously impressive, but unfortunately epic fireworks are too far away for me to go on saturday and get back for a party and fireworks. Can't find many other places that stock them except jordans near oxford, but they do one called 'legend'.

Budget about £200-300 (will push parents and their friends for more), and am looking for a nice SIB finale, a good 2 largish cakes, 2/3 more small cakes (possibly fire in pairs), and some fountains to start with, and maybe the odd little good value rocket. Ooops there is my display in reverse order

So what do you recommend, pretty and loud, and where from, as around us locally the seasonal shops will probs sell standard and poss black cat, or there are the slightly disappointing kimbolton approx £80 SIB and cakes. Willing to travel about 1.5hrs on sat.

Cheers

p.s, anyone got any proton bombs hidden away :P :D :P

pp.s These fireworks tickle my fancy:
- Air collision M17 @epic
- brothers - wild horses
- BOGOF men shun cakes
- Anything by brothers, really really looks amazing !!!!!!!!!!!!

Kimbolton fireworks are good but are very expensive at full RRP and its very hard to find a local shop doing deals on this brand.

Have a look at the bigger Men Shun fan cakes which you may find at 50% off or try and find a stockist selling Fireworks International - their Crazy Horses cake is fab and there cheaper cakes will be admired by those watching (Cyclops, T-Rex - Brill!!)

Ah cheers forgot about fireworks international, less vids of them but the ones I have seen look great.

One SIB that will always stick in my mind was a £70 job about 5-6 years ago, just a cardboard box and might have been a black cat. Went on seemingly forever and seemed to raise all hell, my favourite one ever.

I don't know that area very well- If you look at the UKFR , there is an map of fireworks shops (site sponsors) as part of their "Buy Fireworks" section.

I would second that, Raj (guy who runs newsbox) loves fireworks and cherry picks the best pieces from a wide range of brands, tell him Stuart sent you ;)

(probably wont make MUCH difference as most (if not all) of his prices are under the brands rrps already)

Thanks guys.

It's been a hectic day at work....... Pricing up fireworks :D

Budget seems to be less than I thought after speaking to my dad and not knowing how much my mates dad will be contributing. About £200 is the budget now, a pity I had specced up a £300 display.

One thing, I have watched alot of vids on newsbox and it seems that in a few of them that multiples are being set off, so you don't see what the one firework would give you. Thinking of doubling up on few and hopefully trying to get that in a deal :D

Thanks starsky, mentioned you but the lady said her husband probably new you. Will go and order some bits tonight just incase, as the whole world will be going to shops tomorrow.

So far.

Start
absolute - flying phoenix
Fire intl - flying fish x2, crossfire, cheeky cherrys x2

Cakes
Fire intl - Tripple h-bomb (tempted to get x2)
Royal party - after dark/sunset x2
Bright star - flashing thunder BOGOF
Cosmic - sky spectrum

Bigger cakes
Fire intl - T-rex, laser bombardment
Men shun - fawkes revenge

In unison finish
Fire intl - crazy horses
absolute - AF61

:D
